About

The underlying worldviews of a culture bubble to the surface through the arts. Movies are a window into their creator’s view the of world, morality, meaning, and the human condition. They not only offer insight into the idealogical ebbs and flows of society, but offer a wonderful platform through which we can reflect on our own perspective of the world as Christians.

As both a Chistian and a lover of film, I appreciate movies not just as a source of entertainment and a conduit of artistic expression, but as a means by which our world grapples with some of the most fundamental philosophical questions we face every day. Movies are always trying to say something. Engaging with these ideas can not only help us flesh out our own perspectives, but help us better understand other reigning philosophies in our society.

The goal of this platform is to explore the questions and contentions put forward in cinema through a Biblical lens. What is the movie trying to say, and how is it trying to say it? How do its themes overlap, align, or conflict with the truths of Scripture? What can we learn from the film about what it means to live a Christian lfe? What does it tell us about the perspectives of non-believers, and the rationale or foundation behind these perspectives?

My hope is that these reflections not only help us better understand the nature of God and the Christian life, but also the culture at large such that we are better equipped to engage those around us with the love, compassion, and understanding to which Christ calls us.
